[Full Text] Hong Seok-cheon Clarifies "It's Not True That I Quit Being a Comedian Because of Nam Hee-seok"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Comedian Nam Hee-seok publicly targeted 'Radio Star' MC Kim Gura, and broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon shared his stance regarding remarks related to Nam Hee-seok being mentioned.
On the 31st, Hong Seok-cheon posted a screenshot of an article containing his past statement, "I was branded a traitor because of Nam Hee-seok and quit being a comedian," on his SNS.
Along with the photo, he began his post by saying, "It is a sensitive and delicate time, but I thought my silence might cause further misunderstandings, so I am writing a few words."
He continued, "It is absolutely not true that I quit being a comedian because of Nam Hee-seok," adding, "The story I told on the broadcast was packaged sensationally without the context before and after, which is unfortunate. I also feel disappointed toward those who wrote articles with sensational headlines without at least a minimal verification process during such times."
He further stated, "Even at this moment, I am closer to Nam Hee-seok than anyone else, and Nam Hee-seok is always considerate of others and is a younger brother I like."
Hong Seok-cheon also said, "Moreover, since Kim Gura is also a close friend of mine, I feel sorry looking at this situation."
He concluded, "However, knowing well that both of them are not people who act lightly, I hope this will be resolved well and will quietly trust and wait."
Earlier, on the 29th, Nam Hee-seok mentioned Kim Gura on SNS, posting, "'Radio Star' Kim Gura turns his back and frowns when the invited guest speaks if it does not suit his taste. It is his character, but it is truly an inconsiderate attitude."
As controversy continued, on the 30th, Nam Hee-seok wrote, "'Sudden' or 'abrupt' is not the case. I have observed and pondered for years before leaving this post. You can check the footage to know."
In response, on the 31st, the 'Radio Star' side officially stated, "We hope misunderstandings regarding MC Kim Gura will be cleared." Through the statement, the production team said, "Although it is not revealed on the broadcast, Kim Gura makes his best efforts for the guests," and "From what we have observed, Kim Gura is not a rude MC to the guests."
