Through this agreement, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to assign career and vocational guidance personnel to the newly established Jeonnam Developmental Disabilities Training Center. The assigned guidance personnel will be responsible for selecting education candidates for vocational experience programs, schedule management, cooperating in the development of field-centered career programs, and linking transition education.
The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled will be responsible for establishing and managing the training center’s facilities and equipment, developing and operating programs, supporting job creation, and conducting various training sessions.
The Jeonnam Developmental Disabilities Training Center is planned to be established to provide career and vocational education and employment support services tailored to the life cycle of individuals with developmental disabilities, expanding opportunities for independence in the local community and building a job transition support system.
Scheduled to open in November, the Jeonnam Developmental Disabilities Training Center was finally selected by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled selection committee in January and is planned to be established in Suncheon City, which has many users and easy accessibility.
The vocational experience hall within the center will consist of 10 occupations including clothing, mart, librarian, office administration, care protection, hotel, and laundry, and will select partner companies within the local community to provide education and training in an environment similar to actual workplaces.
Superintendent Jang Seok-woong said, “I am very pleased that the Developmental Disabilities Training Center, which Jeonnam’s disabled students and parents have eagerly awaited, is being established,” and added, “The establishment of this training center will bring hope and present a future to disabled students in the Jeonnam region.”
