[Breaking] 2,318 Complaints About 'Tap Water Larvae'... "Areas Outside Incheon Not Related to Tap Water"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 30th, the Ministry of Environment announced that a total of 2318 complaints related to tap water larvae had been received nationwide as of the 29th.
There were 1452 cases in Incheon and 866 cases in other regions.
Actual cases where larvae were confirmed numbered 612, of which 256 were in Incheon. In Incheon, it is presumed to have originated from adult midges laying eggs in the activated carbon beds of water purification plants. In response, the 'backwash' cycle has been shortened, and management and supervision have been strengthened by installing fine insect screens and double doors at the activated carbon beds.
