Hyundai Construction "Move-in at Complex with Built-in Voice Recognition 'VoiceHome'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 30th that it will showcase 'VoiceHome,' a built-in voice recognition system developed for the first time in Korea, through Hillstate River City.
VoiceHome is an in-house voice recognition system developed and applied for the first time in Korea by Hyundai Engineering & Construction. It is a system linked with Hyundai Engineering & Construction's smart home system 'Hi-oT' that allows controlling the home by voice.
Through VoiceHome, users can check today's and tomorrow's weather and fine dust levels by voice, add schedules, and receive alarms at designated times. VoiceHome speakers can control built-in devices in the house, allowing individual or collective control of lighting, heating, and built-in air conditioners. With this feature, users can lie down on the bed before sleeping and turn off the lights or set the bedroom temperature by voice.
When the outing mode is set via the Hi-oT app, it can also be activated by voice. When outing mode is set, the unit's lighting, built-in air conditioner, and standby power cutoff outlets all turn off, and the gas valve is shut off. The elevator can also be called by voice when leaving.
VoiceHome plans to expand its integration range by cooperating with various platform companies in the future. Currently, it is linked with KT's GiGA Genie set-top box, allowing control of TVs connected to VoiceHome.
In the future, it plans to link with Hyundai Kia Motors' Home-to-Car service. This will enable users to control the vehicle when going out, such as starting the engine remotely and pre-setting the interior temperature to the desired level. With home appliance companies, voice control of air purifiers and robot vacuum cleaners, as well as checking the remaining time and operating status of washing machines and dryers through voice speakers, will be implemented. Through collaboration with electric curtain companies, it will be possible to open or close electric curtains by voice, and when sleep mode is activated, lights will turn off collectively while the electric curtains close, according to the company.
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official said, "VoiceHome is designed with voice recognition speakers considered from the apartment design stage by the construction company, installing devices built-in without exposing power and communication cables on the walls." He added, "Voice recognition devices integrated with existing home network devices were developed and applied in the living room and kitchen of the units."
