Korea-Cambodia FTA First Official Negotiation: "Strengthening Economic Cooperation in Trade and Investment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The 1st official negotiation of the Korea-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will be held via video conference over two days from the 30th to the 31st.
On the Korean side, the government delegation participating in the negotiations will be led by No Geon-gi, FTA Policy Officer of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, along with representatives from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
On the Cambodian side, the government delegation is expected to attend with Sim Sokheng, Deputy Minister of Commerce, as the chief representative, along with officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Economy and Finance.
This negotiation follows the agreement to promote the FTA during the bilateral summit in March last year, after which joint research and public hearings were conducted, leading to the official declaration of the start of FTA negotiations between the two countries' trade ministers on the 9th.
The negotiations will cover the agreement text chapters on goods, rules of origin, customs and trade facilitation, economic cooperation, and general provisions, as well as discussions related to goods market opening.

No Geon-gi, FTA Policy Officer, stated, "As cooperation with New Southern countries has become increasingly important after COVID-19, we expect that the FTA with Cambodia, which has great growth potential, will provide an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation such as expanding trade and investment between the two countries."
