Songpa-gu as a Cultural and Sports City... Agreement with Korea Sports Industry Development
Significant Expansion of Cooperation Scope Between Two Organizations: From COVID-19 Response to Social Contribution for Vulnerable Groups and Job Creation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsu Park) has signed a business agreement with Korea Sports Industry Development (CEO Sayup Kim) to mutually cooperate for development as a cultural and sports city.
Sports Industry Development is a public institution under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism established in July 1990, located in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu. It manages and operates various 88 Seoul Olympic facilities centered around Olympic Park, which attracts many visitors.
The signing ceremony was held on the 29th at 2 p.m. in the district office's main conference room to expand the cooperation areas that both organizations have been promoting. The two organizations previously signed a business agreement in 2017 for job creation.
According to the agreement, the two organizations will expand their cooperation scope to culture, sports, and safety fields and plan to focus on fostering Songpa as a cultural and sports city through sharing human and material resources.
First, considering the COVID-19 situation, the district will start cooperation in the disaster safety field. To ensure residents can safely use Olympic Park, they will conduct ▲ joint disinfection of walking trail rest facilities ▲ mutual consultation when opening major performance and sports facilities.
Additionally, they plan to sequentially promote ▲ providing convenience for renting facilities for Songpa-gu cultural and sports events ▲ installation and operation of sports facilities within Olympic Park to promote local community sports ▲ strengthening social contributions targeting local welfare facilities and vulnerable groups ▲ job creation related to the development of KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Arena) complex cultural space within Olympic Park.
At the signing ceremony, CEO Sayup Kim said, “I am pleased to be part of a commitment to the development of Songpa-gu,” and added, “We will do our best to cooperate to promote residents' health and expand the base of community sports culture.”
