'Food Trailer' Arrives at Pristine Valleys in Gyeonggi-do
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is launching a food trailer rental support project to revitalize local businesses on the first anniversary of the clean valley restoration.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it will carry out the 'Food Trailer Rental Support Project' to help support the livelihoods of merchants in Baegun Valley, Pocheon City, who actively participated in voluntary demolition for the 'Clean Valley Restoration.' If the results are positive, the province plans to expand this project to all valleys within the province.
The Food Trailer Rental Support Project rents food trailers owned by the Gyeonggi Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency to entrepreneurs who wish to start food truck businesses at an affordable monthly rent of 100,000 KRW.
Currently, the Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency has a total of 20 food trailers. The province plans to support four of these to merchants in Baegun Valley, Pocheon.
This support follows the directive of Governor Lee Jae-myung of Gyeonggi Province, who, while promoting the clean river valley restoration project, instructed that "policies should move beyond just demolishing illegal facilities to directions that provide practical help to local residents and merchants."
The supported vehicles are equipped with various facilities necessary for food and beverage operations, including freezers, gas stoves, sinks, cooking worktables, ventilation fans, storage cabinets, and distribution boards. They have completed gas certification and safety inspections for mobile food sales.
The rental period is one year, from the end of this month until July next year. The province will extend contracts based on business performance. In particular, management support will be provided to help merchants effectively operate and maintain the food trailers.
The province expects this project to bring new vitality to the valley area’s commercial district, support merchants’ livelihoods, and offer new attractions to visitors to the valley.
