'Monsoon Front Impact' Continuous Rain Across the Country... Heavy Rain Warnings in Various Areas of Yeongnam and Honam
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Amid nationwide rainfall due to the influence of the monsoon front, heavy rain warnings and advisories were issued in various parts of the Honam and Yeongnam regions on the 28th.
The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that as of 7:50 PM on the 28th, a heavy rain advisory would be issued for Daegu and Chilgok, Seongju, and Goryeong. Heavy rain advisories were also issued for Gumi, Gimcheon, Sangju, Mungyeong, and Yecheon. A heavy rain advisory is issued when the expected rainfall is 60mm or more over 3 hours or 110mm or more over 12 hours. It is difficult to avoid the rain with just an umbrella. Caution is needed due to the risk of accidents such as river flooding.
Heavy rain advisories were also issued for Gwangju and Naju and Sinan (excluding Heuksan-myeon) in Jeonnam. The heavy rain advisories issued for Jangheung, Heuksando, and Hongdo are still in effect.
Earlier, heavy rain warnings were issued for Hwasun and Gokseong. A heavy rain warning is issued when the expected rainfall exceeds 90mm over 3 hours or 180mm over 12 hours. It is advised to refrain from going out or driving and to be cautious near rivers.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the 29th, most parts of the country are expected to be cloudy with rain. Especially in the southern Chungcheong region and northern Jeonbuk, rainfall of 40 to 60mm per hour is forecast, and in other parts of Chungcheong, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk, around 30mm per hour of heavy rain is expected.
