Yoo Eun-hye "Comprehensive CSAT Quarantine Measures to be Discussed with KDCA and Announced in August"
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye stated on the 28th, "We are currently discussing quarantine measures related to the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) and relevant authorities," adding, "We plan to make a comprehensive announcement in August."
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo said at the National Assembly Education Committee plenary session on the same day, "We will thoroughly prepare (the CSAT quarantine measures)."
The 2021 CSAT, which will be taken by current third-year high school students, was postponed by two weeks from November 19 to December 3 due to delayed school attendance caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Regarding university students' demands for tuition refunds for the first semester, Deputy Prime Minister Yoo stated, "Twenty-nine national universities and Seoul National University of Science and Technology, totaling 30 universities, have decided to consult with students and refund tuition fees."
She continued, "Some private universities are also refunding 100,000 to 200,000 won, or 10% of the first semester tuition, in the form of special scholarships after consulting with their students," adding, "The number of universities deciding to refund tuition continues to increase."
