Gwangju Seo-gu Council Leads 'Social Economy Revitalization'
Agreement Signed with Western Society Social Economy Federation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Kim Taeyoung) announced on the 28th that it signed a business agreement with the Seo-gu Social Economy Federation (President Kim Dongho) on the 27th to revitalize the social economy.
The agreement was promoted to realize the values of sharing and solidarity through the revitalization of the social economy in the local community and to strengthen the local community.
According to this agreement, the Seo-gu Council will prioritize purchasing social economy products from Seo-gu and make institutional and policy efforts to help social economy companies develop markets and secure sales channels.
The Seo-gu Social Economy Federation decided to provide education to the Seo-gu Council to increase understanding of the social economy.
Kim Taeyoung, chairman of the Seo-gu Council, said, “Through organic cooperation between the Seo-gu Social Economy Federation and the Seo-gu Council, we will actively support companies belonging to Seo-gu, Gwangju,” and added, “We will deeply consider win-win plans for the local community and take the lead in spreading sharing activities of companies for vulnerable groups in our region.”
Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Social Economy Federation has about 30 member companies, including social enterprises, village enterprises, self-support enterprises, and cooperatives in Seo-gu.

The Social Economy Support Center, to which the Seo-gu Social Economy Federation belongs, is a public-private governance organization launched in 2016 based on the Gwangju Metropolitan City Social Economy Activity Support Ordinance to realize a local circular economy through the creation and revitalization of the social economy ecosystem in the Gwangju area.
