Would you like me to pick a poem instead of coffee?
Busan Gijang-gun Introduces 'Literature Vending Machine' in Civil Service Office
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] How about a poem instead of coffee?
At the entrance of the Open Civil Service Department on the first floor of Busan Gijang-gun Office, a 'vending machine' installed on July 16 does not dispense coffee or drinks, but poems. It is a literature vending machine.
The literature vending machines, installed in 16 districts and counties through a Busan city public contest project to enhance citizens' literary sensitivity and encourage reading motivation, were selected as a resident participation budget project in 2020.
The vending machine contains a total of 1,000 writings, including 500 novels, 200 quotes and poems, and 300 essays. When users select the long text or short text button, excerpts from literary works are randomly printed in the form of a receipt.
With excerpts from novels, poems, essays, and quotes, visitors can enjoy a brief reading time using their spare moments.
