Gokseong-gun, Steady Preparation for Seokgok IC-Gyeommyeon Road Facility Improvement Construction
High Interest in Resident Briefing, Design to Be Completed by August Next Year, Construction Scheduled for Second Half of the Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that it held a resident briefing session for the basic and detailed design service of the Gokseong Seokgok IC-Gyeommyeon road facility improvement project from the 9th to the 24th.
The briefing sessions were held at the Seokgok-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, Samgi-myeon Office, and Gyeom-myeon Office, which are the project target areas. At the event, Gokseong-gun and Iksan Regional Land Management Office explained the project details, progress status, and plans, and listened to the opinions of the residents.
The section of National Road No. 27 between Seokgok IC and Gyeom-myeon has poor road structure such as sharp curves, posing a high risk of traffic accidents. Therefore, improving the road in this section has been a long-standing wish of the residents of Gokseong-gun.
Since 2014, the county has continuously proposed the facility improvement project for this section as part of the five-year plan for national and local roads. They also frequently visited the National Assembly, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to explain the urgency of the project and actively requested budget allocation. As a result, the road improvement project for the Seokgok IC-Gyeommyeon section was included in the government’s ‘National Balanced Development Project’ exempt from preliminary feasibility study announced in January last year.
The project section has a total length of 23.1 km, with 146 billion KRW of national funding invested. Since December last year, the basic and detailed design service has been underway for this section. The Iksan Regional Land Management Office plans to complete the design and administrative procedures by August next year and start construction in the second half of the year. Gokseong-gun has stated that it will actively cooperate in purchasing land to be incorporated once the project begins.
