[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo announced on the 28th that he will propose three bills to prevent ideological education, stating that "educational sites have become stages for ideological education."
On the same day, Hong said on Facebook, "It is now time to restore the Korean educational field, which has become a battleground for Antonio Gramsci's war of position, to normalcy." Gramsci was a philosopher and founder of the Italian Communist Party, famous for founding theories such as hegemony and the war of position.
Hong pointed out, "Over the past 30 years, the educational field in Korean society has unknowingly become a stage for ideological education," adding, "Education should be value-neutral, providing a place where our children can make sound judgments, but if the educational field degenerates into a propaganda ground for a particular ideology, the entire Korean society will become biased."
