Samcheok Marine Cable Car Sudden Stop During Operation... About 20 Shocked Passengers Taken to Hospital
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] At around 2:10 PM on the 27th, two 'Samcheok Marine Cable Cars' traveling the 874m section between Yonghwa-ri and Jangho-ri in Geundeok-myeon, Samcheok-si, Gangwon, suddenly stopped.
At the time, 41 passengers were on board the two-way cable cars crossing each other at a height of 20 to 25 meters above the sea.
As the cable cars came to an abrupt halt, some passengers suffered bruises from hitting the glass windows, and 20 people were transported to the hospital complaining of fear and dizziness.
The Samcheok Marine Tourism Center operated an emergency generator and moved the stopped cable cars to both stations within 15 minutes. It was reported that passengers disembarked around 2:30 PM.
