Tomorrow at the Tripartite Commission, 'Overcoming the COVID Crisis' Labor-Management-Government Agreement... Excluding the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The tripartite agreement to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis will be approved on the 28th at the Economic, Social and Labor Council, a social dialogue body under the direct control of the president.
Park Jong-pil, spokesperson for the Ministry of Employment and Labor, held a regular briefing at the Government Complex Sejong on the 27th and said, "The main committee of the Economic, Social and Labor Council will be held tomorrow," adding, "Five tripartite parties, excluding the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), will participate and sign the tripartite agreement to overcome the COVID-19 crisis."
The six tripartite parties, including the KCTU, presented a tripartite agreement after about 40 days of discussions at the Tripartite Representatives Meeting launched in May under Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, but the KCTU ultimately rejected ratification at the temporary delegate meeting on the 23rd.
Accordingly, the remaining five parties decided to approve the tripartite agreement at the Economic, Social and Labor Council and discuss the implementation plan of the agreement centered on the council.
