'World Heritage Festival Gyeongbuk' Opening Performance on the 31st at Andong Hahoe Village
Held Throughout August in Andong, Gyeongju, and Yeongju Areas

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The opening ceremony of the '2020 World Heritage Festival Gyeongbuk' will be grandly held at 8 p.m. on the 31st at Andong Hahoe Village.
Hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Andong City, Gyeongju City, and Yeongju City, and organized by the Korea Cultural Foundation and the World Confucian Culture Foundation, the opening ceremony will feature celebratory performances such as Dosan 12 Songs, the Four Seasons of Buseoksa Temple, and the musical play Seonmyo, along with various events including Seonyu Julbulnori and falling flower performances.
This World Heritage Festival will continue throughout August in Andong City, Gyeongju City, and Yeongju City under the theme "The Cultural Value of Humanity Blossoms in Gyeongbuk," starting with this opening ceremony. It is a newly launched event by the Cultural Heritage Administration to enjoy the value and meaning of domestic UNESCO World Heritage sites, consisting of various programs such as traditional performances, reenactments, and experiences.
The highlight of this festival is the World Heritage Exhibition, which reinterprets World Heritage through media art by combining it with media IT technology, along with Hi-Mask performances, Seonyu Julbulnori, the Sejelgwi Concert, World Heritage busking, and other diverse events. At Dosan Seowon, experience programs such as "A Day at the Seowon" and nighttime openings will be held.
In Gyeongju City, visitors can enjoy the Media Art Millennium Heritage Exhibition, the fashion show Hoeso, and the New Silla Ogi, while in Yeongju City, various events such as the musical play Seonmyo, the original symphony The Four Seasons of Buseoksa Temple, and the special exhibition Moonbangsau will be available.
Starting with the opening ceremony held at Dosan Seowon in July for the "Korean Seowon, World Heritage Festival," distinctive World Heritage Festivals will continue in Gyeongbuk in August and Jeju Island in September.
An official from Andong City stated, "Since this festival is held amid the COVID-19 disaster situation, we have established a three-stage quarantine plan for the opening ceremony, and for upcoming events, we will implement customized quarantine plans tailored to each program to do our best to thoroughly prevent COVID-19."
