'Maijejo Data' Captivating SMEs... "Profit Return Model"
AI and Data-Driven
Advanced Strategies for SME Manufacturing Innovation
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] "InnoBiz companies will actively cooperate with the government to ensure that this measure achieves practical effects, and we hope to participate in future manufacturing innovation governance to lend our support."
The Korea Association of Innovative Small and Medium Enterprises (InnoBiz Association) is actively participating in the establishment of the 'My Manufacturing Data' system. In a statement regarding government policy, they expressed that "InnoBiz companies focused on manufacturing (about 75% in manufacturing) warmly welcome this."
The Korea Federation of SMEs also plans to cooperate with the government to enhance the effectiveness of government measures and will do its best to promote the system and enable SMEs to actively utilize it. In a commentary, the Federation welcomed the measure, stating, "This policy newly introduces support for nurturing suppliers who develop and install smart factory equipment solutions, which is expected to contribute to opening the era of AI SME smart factories."
On the 23rd, the government announced the 'AI and Data-based SME Manufacturing and Innovation Advancement Strategy.' The 'AI SME Manufacturing Platform (KAMP),' which supports the AI smart factory transformation of SMEs by storing, analyzing, and utilizing data generated in smart factories, will be established by 2022.
KAMP (Korea AI Manufacturing Platform) is a public-private joint platform involving universities, research institutes, cloud companies, demand and supply companies, and AI experts. In particular, the 'My Manufacturing Data' system will be established centered on the AI manufacturing platform KAMP. A foundation for activating My Manufacturing Data will be created by reducing the corporate burden when building smart factories by the amount of costs incurred in collecting and analyzing manufacturing data.
My Manufacturing Data is a service model that returns the benefits from utilizing manufacturing data to the data-producing manufacturing companies. Data that had remained within individual companies' smart factories can be converted into My Manufacturing Data to generate revenue, which is expected to greatly contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of manufacturing SMEs.
The government plans to ultimately promote the production and utilization of manufacturing data by clarifying the rights and relationships of producers, traders, and distributors of manufacturing data. It will establish manufacturing data standards and sharing norms to generate compatible, high-quality manufacturing data and enable smooth sharing.
