COVID-19 Testing for Market Vendors After Market Closure by Health Authorities
Subway Line Used by Confirmed Patient Closed
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] According to China's state-run Global Times on the 23rd, an employee of a seafood processing company in Dalian, Liaoning Province, tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), leading to the closure of the Liaoyu International Seafood Market.
The newspaper added that COVID-19 testing is being conducted on market vendors, and the subway station primarily used by the confirmed patient has been closed.
Previously, the cluster infection in Beijing was reported to have started at a seafood section in the Xinfadi Market, once again pointing to seafood as a source of COVID-19 infection.
The newspaper, citing Huanqiu Shibao, reported that it is highly likely that an employee of the Dalian Kaiyang Seafood Company tested positive for COVID-19.
Although the infection route of the confirmed patient has not been identified, the newspaper added that this case is expected to impact Dalian's seafood industry.
