Changwon City, Swift Moves to Fully Launch the 'Changwon-style New Deal Project'
Changwon Smart Industrial Complex, Determined to Secure Multiple Leads Including Wind Nacelle Testbed
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 23rd that it has officially launched the ‘Changwon-type New Deal Project’ to lead the government’s ‘Korean New Deal’ while realizing Changwon’s own great innovation and leap forward at an early stage.
The city has set a ‘practicality-first strategy’ aiming to make the ‘Changwon-type New Deal’ a new growth engine for economic recovery and the post-COVID-19 era, and to secure the largest number of projects selected and the largest scale of national funding under the Korean New Deal policy.
Accordingly, on the 22nd, the city formed the ‘Changwon-type New Deal Promotion Team’ led by First Deputy Mayor Jo Young-jin, planning to discover core projects that align with the Korean New Deal within this month.
The city plans to accelerate the ‘Changwon-type New Deal’ by supporting the shortening of administrative procedures such as local investment and financing reviews and preliminary feasibility studies, as well as promoting the enactment and revision of related laws and ordinances.
The promotion team decided to establish a two-track strategy for the ‘Changwon-type New Deal Comprehensive Plan’ from both short-term and mid-to-long-term perspectives, and in the short term, it will actively respond to securing national and provincial funding next year through concretizing existing projects and refining their rationale.
The recently announced Korean New Deal comprehensive plan includes numerous New Deal projects such as the ‘Changwon National Industrial Complex Smart Energy Infrastructure Construction Project,’ ‘Wind Nacelle Testbed,’ and ‘Future Eco-friendly Mobility (Hydrogen Vehicles),’ recognizing the competitiveness of the Changwon-type New Deal.
