[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Samsung Card announced on the 23rd that it has signed a joint agreement with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, local governments nationwide, and the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute to launch the 'Local Tax Mobile Bill' service, which allows payment of local taxes via mobile.
The Local Tax Mobile Bill service can be applied for on the Samsung Card website and application (app). Customers who apply can check the bills, which were previously received by mail, on the Samsung Card app, and make payments seamlessly through the mobile app card.
The payable local taxes include registration license tax (January), first and second half automobile tax (June and December), building property tax (July), resident tax (August), land property tax (September), fines, and penalties. With a single application, bills for all local tax revenues except for Seoul City can be received and paid via mobile.
Samsung Card expects that the launch of this service will enhance customers' convenience in tax payment and also contribute to environmental protection by reducing paper bills. Additionally, customers using the service will receive a tax credit benefit ranging from 150 to 500 KRW per bill, reflecting the partial return of costs saved by local governments.

To commemorate the launch of this service, an event will be held. Until September 30, all customers who pay local taxes through the Local Tax Mobile Bill service will receive one Starbucks Americano gifticon. Furthermore, customers who apply for the service in July and consecutively pay local taxes in August and September will receive an additional Starbucks Americano gifticon. Also, among customers who apply for the service by the end of August, five winners will be selected by lottery to receive prizes such as the Galaxy Note20.
