Buan-gun Selected for Ministry of Agriculture Food Plan Support Project at Regional Level
200 Million Won Invested to Establish Buan Local Food Self-Certification System
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, has become able to establish a regional food plan that can stably supply fresh and safe local agricultural products.
On the 22nd, Buan-gun announced that it was selected for the 2020 Regional Food Plan Establishment Support Project (Safety and Quality Management) organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing 100 million KRW in national funding.
This regional food plan establishment support project aims to promote the stable operation of regional food plans by supporting safety and quality management such as residual pesticide inspections of locally produced agricultural products for cities and counties that have established food plans or enacted public meal ordinances.
Taking this public contest project as an opportunity, the county plans to prepare Buan local food’s own certification system in connection with the Buan-gun food plan establishment research service, which was finalized last month.

Jang Gyeongjun, Director of the Agricultural Policy Division, said, “The first task for the success of the food plan is to stably supply fresh and safe food,” and added, “With a total project cost of 200 million KRW, including the secured national funding of 100 million KRW, we will strengthen quality and safety that satisfy consumers by establishing a local food certification system.”
