Gangnam-gu Establishes Non-Face-to-Face Payment System for Civil Complaint Counters
Residents Directly Pay Fees via Terminals and ZeroPay... District Office and Dong Community Center Installations Completed
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has established a contactless payment system where residents directly insert their cards at the civil service counters in the district office and community service centers to pay civil service fees, and it has been in operation since this month.
This project aims to realize advanced contactless administration in the 'With Corona' era. Last month, payment terminals were installed at the district office civil service departments and 22 community service centers, and staff members were trained on how to use them.
The previous method, where staff received cards to process civil service fee payments, has been changed to a system where residents make payments directly at the terminals. This supports not only magnetic cards but also simple payment services using mobile phones such as Zero Pay.
In May, the district installed transparent partitions at all civil service counters handling face-to-face tasks such as vehicle registration and passport issuance. They are actively participating in social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by requiring all entrants to use hand sanitizer, undergo temperature checks, and wear masks.
