Gwangju University, 60 Pass First Selection Exam for Military Officers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University, regarded as a "cradle for training military officers," produced 60 successful candidates in the first round of the military officer selection exam.
According to the Department of Defense Technology at Gwangju University on the 21st, in the 2020 academic year written selection exam for Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps officers, 22 first-year students, 35 second-year students, 2 third-year students, and 1 fourth-year student passed.
Notably, among the 12 second-year female students who took the exam, 11 passed, continuing last year's trend of producing over 90% successful candidates, establishing Gwangju University as a cradle for military officer training.
The military officer selection exam is divided into categories for military scholarship students, ROTC candidates, and female military officer candidates, with students allowed to take the exam twice a year during their four years of enrollment.
Gwangju University has achieved excellent results in the "ROTC Unit Installation University Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of National Defense, and provides systematic educational programs such as aptitude tests, mobilization training, and physical training from the first year for students aspiring to become Army officers.

Kim Chan-hwan, head of the Department of Defense Technology at Gwangju University, said, "Our university increases the pass rate through systematic education including early mobilization training, mentor-mentee activities within the department, and customized education by proficiency level," adding, "We will do our best to guide students to pass the second exam and ultimately succeed."
