Yeongdeungpo-gu Temporarily Resumes Toy Library Operation... Advance Reservation for Existing Members... Toy Delivery Service for Severely Disabled, Infants Under 36 Months, and Grandparent-Grandchild Families
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is resuming the operation of the Yeongdeungpo-gu Hope Toy Library to provide various play activities for infants and children amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to alleviate the economic burden on parents.
The Yeongdeungpo-gu Toy Library operated three locations: Dangsan 1st and 2nd branches, and Singil branch, but operations were temporarily suspended since February due to the impact of COVID-19.
As caregiver fatigue accumulated due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation and voices hoping for the reopening of the toy library grew louder, the district decided to operate the library for existing members.
The district also added that thorough disinfection was conducted for the entire library facility and the 3,055 toys owned by the library so that users can visit safely without COVID-19 concerns.
The service is available to infants aged 0 to 5 and their guardians residing in the area, and during the operation period, it will be run by prior application through the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center website for existing members.
Each member can borrow up to two toys for three weeks and can visit from Tuesday to Saturday between 1 PM and 5 PM. Returns can be made during operating hours without prior reservation.
Additionally, from July 21, a toy delivery service will be operated concurrently, delivering toys directly to homes for families with severe disabilities who have difficulty visiting the facility, families with two or more infants under 36 months, and grandparent-headed households.
The toy delivery service can also be applied for through prior application on the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center website, similar to the use by existing members, allowing borrowing of up to two toys for three weeks.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district plans to operate while thoroughly disinfecting the facility, checking hand sanitization, temperature checks, and ensuring strict compliance with quarantine rules for users and staff.
