According to the city council on the 20th, after receiving a report on the progress of major tasks this year, the Urban Construction Committee visited the Geumam Square Intersection improvement and Fountain Garden creation project site to check the progress of the construction and conducted a detailed inspection to see if there were any inconveniences caused to citizens due to the construction.
The members of the Urban Construction Committee stated, “As the traffic system and flow change due to the Geumam Square Intersection improvement construction, we must not cause inconvenience to citizens,” urging the minimization of citizen inconvenience.
Kim Wonju, Chairperson of the Urban Construction Committee, said, “We will continue to frequently visit sites related to major issues to create a field-oriented council and actively carry out legislative activities to build an open council that communicates with citizens.”
Meanwhile, the Geumam Intersection improvement and Fountain Garden creation project, with a total budget of 3.2 billion won, aims to improve the irregular five-way intersection into a four-way intersection to resolve habitual congestion and traffic accident risks.

Additionally, the project, which has been underway since October 2018 to restore the Fountain Square and create a pilot street garden befitting the city as a garden city with ten million trees, is scheduled for completion next month.
