At 11 a.m. on the 20th, in front of the NH Investment & Securities headquarters in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, the 'Optimus Creator Fund Victims Emergency Response Committee' along with other affected investors held a rally demanding full compensation of their investments.
About 50 affected investors gathered that day, holding placards and banners with phrases such as "Sales company NH Investment & Securities must compensate 100% in full," "Immediately establish compensation standards at least equal to Korea Investment & Securities," and "Return the principal investment."
One victim attending the rally stated, "When I joined the Optimus Fund, they said it would pay 2.8% interest annually," adding, "I invested because they said there was no risk and that the fund invested in government bonds." He continued, "I was never greedy," and added, "If the interest rate had been 5%, I wouldn't have invested."
Another victim, Mr. Yoo (61), said, "I joined the 45th fund maturing in October last April," and added, "The money I invested now is for my apartment's interim payment, so it would be a big problem if I don't get it back." A victim belonging to the emergency committee emphasized, "We will fight by any means necessary."
They also announced plans to hold a rally on the 23rd, when NH Investment & Securities' regular board meeting is scheduled. They have already filed rally notifications for the NH Investment & Securities headquarters, the Financial Supervisory Service, and in front of NongHyup Financial Group located in Seodaemun. They are also continuously contacting several law firms for legal advice.
NH Investment & Securities plans to present a 'liquidity support plan' for the Optimus Fund victims at the regular board meeting on the 23rd. However, an NH Investment & Securities official explained, "It is difficult to know the exact details until the day of the regular board meeting."
A representative of the emergency committee said, "We are watching how the decision at the regular board meeting on the 23rd will come out," adding, "If it is not a full repayment of the investment principal, we will immediately proceed with legal action."
