Gwangjin-gu, Free Rental of Baekilsang and Dolsang
Additional Registration for 'Safety Car Seat Rental Project' for Families with Children Under 6 Years Old Available via Gwangjin-gu Childcare Support Center Website or Toy Library Visit
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has started providing a "Baekilsang and Dolsang Free Rental Service" to families with infants celebrating their 100th day and first birthday from this month.
This project, launched for the first time this year, was established to reduce the burden on families who prepare Baekilsang and Dolsang themselves and to create a child-friendly environment.
The rental items include 2 sets of Baekilsang and 3 sets of Dolsang, consisting of banners, folding screens, tablecloths, baby chairs, flower decorations, and various decorative accessories. The Dolsang set also includes items for the traditional first birthday grab event, such as a judge's gavel and stethoscope.
The service is available to families with infants residing in Gwangjin-gu. Families wishing to rent must apply on a first-come, first-served basis by the Monday of the week when the Baekil or Doljanchi is held, and return the items by the following Monday after use.
The rental fee is free (with a deposit of 10,000 KRW). Applications can be submitted through the Gwangjin-gu Childcare Support Center website or in person at the Toy Library (2nd floor of Guui 1-dong Community Center, 56 Gwangnaru-ro 36-gil).
Families who complete the rental application should bring their ID to pick up the items at the Toy Library. Once the COVID-19 situation improves, pickup will also be available at mobile toy libraries in each neighborhood.
Additionally, returned items are thoroughly washed and disinfected to ensure safe use.
Alongside this, the district operates a "Safety Car Seat Rental Program" for families with children under six years old.
Currently, the Toy Library is accepting additional rental applications on a first-come, first-served basis for the remaining new and donated car seats, with in-person applications only.
The rental period varies by type, lasting either one month or ten months.
The safety car seat program started last year with 60 units and has added 20 new seats this month, including basket-type seats, totaling 80 units in use.
Furthermore, residents who wish to donate used car seats can do so anytime at the Toy Library to practice sharing.
