Korean Women Lawyers Association Urges Forced Investigation into Park Won-soon Sexual Harassment Allegations
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Korean Women Lawyers Association has called for a compulsory investigation regarding the sexual harassment allegations against the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon.
On the 19th, the Women Lawyers Association issued a statement saying, "We strongly urge the immediate commencement of a compulsory investigation into the sexual harassment case involving the late former Mayor Park and the active investigation to uncover the truth and protect the victim."
They emphasized, "Before the fact-finding investigation, it is urgent to apply for the re-sealing of the three mobile phones of former Mayor Park and to conduct a search and seizure of the inner office on the 6th floor of Seoul City Hall."
They also criticized, "Even though it has been a week since the victim of former Mayor Park’s case held a press conference, the investigation has not been properly conducted," and "Key officials of Seoul City are not appearing before investigative agencies, citing personal reasons."

The Women Lawyers Association raised their voice, stating, "With Seoul City employees and the political affairs line not cooperating with the police investigation, it is doubtful whether they will respond to an investigation team without compulsory power. It is also difficult to guarantee fairness and truthfulness when Seoul City, the subject of the investigation, forms the investigation team itself," and added, "It appears that Seoul City is trying to evade responsibility."
