[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Recently, an employee of the Chinese oil company SINOPEC who returned from Kuwait was confirmed to be infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19), raising alarms over the prevention of overseas re-importation of the virus.
According to Global Times and others on the 19th, nine SINOPEC employees working in Kuwait returned to China on the 17th via a chartered flight.
Subsequently, on the 18th, COVID-19 test results showed that one person was confirmed positive, while the other eight were diagnosed as asymptomatic carriers, who are not included in the official COVID-19 statistics by the Chinese government.
