Boseong-gun Reports 35th COVID-19 Case in Jeonnam... Efforts to Prevent Local Transmission
County Governor Kim Cheol-woo Urges Strong Community Participation in Social Distancing, Saying "This Week Is Critical"

On the 19th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the 35th COVID-19 confirmed case in Jeonnam occurred in Boseong.
The 35th confirmed case in Jeonnam, who was identified in Boseong, works in Gwangju and commutes between Boseong and Gwangju. This person is a coworker of the 177th confirmed case in Gwangju, who originated from Songpa. On the 18th, at around 2:30 PM, they were notified as a contact of the 177th confirmed case in Gwangju, and at around 3 PM, a specimen was collected at the Boseong-gun Public Health Center screening clinic. They tested positive at 1 AM the following day.
The movement route shows that on the 13th, they traveled from Boseong Station to their workplace in Gwangju by train. From the 14th to the 17th, they commuted by train and returned home by intercity bus. It was confirmed that they wore a mask during travel. The family vehicle was used for transportation between their home, Boseong train station, and the terminal.
The three family members living together were also tested on the 18th and received negative results, but at the request of the Health and Environment Research Institute, they are scheduled for retesting on the 21st.
Currently, Boseong-gun has completed emergency disinfection measures for the confirmed movement routes and deployed an epidemiological investigation team to conduct an in-depth investigation to identify detailed movement paths.
County Governor Kim Cheol-woo stated, “To block community transmission, we have implemented strong social distancing and administrative measures since the 6th, including the closure of Yulpo Beach and the Seaweed Green Tea Center, but transmission has occurred due to the shared living area with Gwangju.” He added, “The next week will be critical to prevent further spread,” issuing a special directive to establish public service discipline and activating an emergency work system for all staff.
He also requested that “residents strictly adhere to quarantine rules such as habitual mask-wearing, refraining from gatherings, and immediately reporting symptoms.”

Meanwhile, the 177th confirmed case in Gwangju is known to have visited a friend's house in Hoecheon-myeon, Boseong-gun, on the 11th and 12th. The three family members of the friend in Hoecheon-myeon all tested negative on the 19th and are currently undergoing retesting this morning, awaiting results.
