Fire at Uiwang Plastic Container Factory... 3 Seriously Injured, 7 Minor Injuries (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] At around 11:25 a.m. on the 18th, a fire broke out at a plastic molding container manufacturing factory in Gocheon-dong, Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Upon receiving the report, the fire authorities dispatched units and, to prevent the flames from spreading, issued a Level 2 response (firefighting operations involving 5 to 9 fire stations) at around 11:38 a.m., deploying 41 fire trucks and about 100 personnel.
The fire burned part of the six-story factory building with a total floor area of approximately 3,800㎡ and was brought under initial control (a stage where the flames are contained and there is no risk of further spread) by 12:17 p.m., about 50 minutes later. As a result of the incident, 10 people were injured, including 3 seriously and 7 with minor injuries, and were transported to hospitals.

The police and fire authorities believe the fire started while equipment was being replaced inside the factory and plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
