Professor Park Young-shin of Chosun University Selected for OECD-led ‘PISA 2025’ Expert Panel
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Professor Park Young-shin of the College of Education at Chosun University (Department of Earth Science Education) has been selected as one of the science experts for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA 2025) organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
In Asia, only two executives, including Professor Park Young-shin, have been selected as science experts for PISA 2025.
According to Chosun University on the 17th, PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) is an international comparative study conducted every three years to compare the achievement and trends of 15-year-old students' literacy, mathematics, and science skills internationally, and to understand the relationship between educational context variables and achievement.
South Korea has continuously participated since the first cycle of PISA in 2000 and has maintained a top ranking among OECD and participating countries until recently.
Last year, Oxford University was selected through bidding as the institution to carry out the OECD's PISA 2025 project, and the university-affiliated Education Evaluation Center is conducting it.
Professor Park was recommended as a science expert to participate in the PISA 2025 project due to his background in earth science, research activities on scientific literacy, and related educational experience.
Based on the definition of 21st-century scientific literacy, he will research and develop the science framework to measure the scientific learning competencies of PISA 2025 assessment subjects.
