Ministry of Foreign Affairs Extends Travel Ban for Iraq, Syria, and Other Countries by 6 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 16th that it has extended the travel ban period for six countries, including Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Libya, as well as certain areas of the Philippines (Zamboanga Peninsula, Sulu, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi islands), until January 31 of next year, for an additional six months.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that during the 41st Passport Policy Deliberation Committee meeting held that day, it was decided to extend the ban after evaluating that the unstable situation, poor security conditions, and terrorism risks in these regions are expected to persist for a considerable period.
