Prosecutors Conduct Search and Seizure at Daejeon City Hall Over ‘Doan District Favoritism Allegations’
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The prosecution conducted a search and seizure of the Urban Planning Standing Planning Team of Daejeon City, which is under suspicion of preferential treatment in the approval of the Doan District project.
According to the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office on the 16th, the prosecution carried out a search and seizure of the Urban Planning Standing Planning Team office located on the 14th floor of Daejeon City Hall starting at 2:30 PM that day.
The search and seizure was conducted to secure digital information and related documents of an executive A of the Urban Planning Standing Planning Team. It is reported that the prosecution also searched executive A's residence in addition to the office within City Hall.
Earlier, the Daejeon Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (hereafter Gyeongsilryeon) raised suspicions in March last year that there was preferential treatment by the city during the approval process of the joint housing construction project in Doan 2-1 District, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and filed a complaint with the prosecution against the public officials involved in the project approval.
Additionally, the Landowners' Association, formed by local residents who were forcibly expropriated of land in the Doan District project, submitted a complaint with the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency in April last year with the same intent as Gyeongsilryeon.
The suspicions center on the fact that when Doan 2-1 District Block A was designated as an urban development zone in February last year, the 30% limit on production green space ratio stipulated in the Urban Development Act was not observed, and the district unit plan was changed without the consent of the landowners.
Among these, the change in the district unit plan involved moving the quasi-residential land, which was originally adjacent to the waterfront park, to a corner of the planned project site, allowing joint housing land to be established in its place, resulting in an increase in joint housing land and a decrease in quasi-residential land.
