[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A couple in their 60s in Gwangju has tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of confirmed cases in the region has reached 173.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 16th, a man in his 60s, Mr. A (resident of Duam-dong, Buk-gu), classified as Gwangju case number 172, tested positive for COVID-19.
It was confirmed that Mr. A had contact on the 8th at Chorokdabang in Duam-dong, Buk-gu with Gwangju case number 150, a member of a badminton club.
Case number 173, a woman in her 60s, is the wife of case 172 and is presumed to have been infected through family transmission.
Health authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations to identify exact movement paths and contacts.
Meanwhile, since the second wave of COVID-19 began in Gwangju on the 27th of last month, 140 people have been confirmed positive.
By infection route, there are 40 cases related to Gwangju Sarang Church, 32 at Geumyang Officetel, 28 at Ilgok Central Church, 14 at Gwangju Gosi Academy, 11 in the badminton club, 8 at Gwangneuksa Temple, 5 imported cases, and 2 under investigation.
By age group, there are 3 under 10 years old, 4 in their teens, 6 in their 20s, 9 in their 30s, 18 in their 40s, 31 in their 50s, 41 in their 60s, 18 in their 70s, 7 in their 80s, and 4 in their 90s.
