Lee Seung-ok, Gurye-gun Council Member, Welcomes Expulsion of Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party Member for Misconduct
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Lee Seung-ok, a member of the Gurye County Council, announced on the 16th that he welcomes the decision to expel the council members involved in the 8th term second half chairman election of the county council, following the Ethics Tribunal meeting of the Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party.
The Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party held an Ethics Tribunal meeting on the 15th and, after disciplinary deliberations, decided to expel three council members?Yoo Si-moon, Jeong Jeong-seop, and Park Jeong-im (proportional representation)?who were involved in the 8th term second half chairman election of the Gurye County Council.
The expelled members admitted all allegations during the review process. As a result, they will remain as independent council members.
In the 8th term second half chairman election of the Jeonnam Gurye County Council, despite the internal party primary election conducted according to the Democratic Party central party guidelines that selected Lee Seung-ok as chairman, these members violated the central party’s instructions and allied with independents in the main election to elect Yoo Si-moon as chairman.
Councilor Lee Seung-ok said, “This incident was a meaningful time to reflect on what local politics and party politics are, and to look back on oneself as a politician,” and added, “I am grateful that the Jeonnam Provincial Party took appropriate measures against the members involved in this act.”
He expressed his aspirations, saying, “In the upcoming by-elections and presidential election, I will contribute in any small way to the Democratic Party’s victory, and I will strive to firmly establish trustworthy politics where justice lives and promises are kept,” and “As a council member, I will renew my determination to improve the welfare and quality of life of Gurye residents through practical policies and vision.”
