Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction Wins 46 Billion KRW Metropolitan Area Highway Construction Contract
"Achieving the Existing Goal of Securing 1.5 Trillion KRW in Order Backlog Within the Year"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction has been awarded a 46 billion KRW contract for a metropolitan area highway project.
Korea Technology announced on the 16th that its subsidiary, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, successfully secured new private investment highway projects worth a total of 46 billion KRW.
The projects awarded this time include two private investment projects: the 'Seochang~Gimpo Highway' and the 'Osan~Yongin Highway.'
The Seochang~Gimpo Highway project involves constructing an 18.4 km stretch from Namdong-gu, Incheon to Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, with 4 to 6 lanes in both directions. This large-scale project includes 5 entry and exit facilities and 1 tollgate, with a total project cost of 757.4 billion KRW. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction is participating as a joint contractor with Hyundai Development Company, GS Construction, and others, handling approximately 30 billion KRW worth of work.
The Osan~Yongin Highway connects Osan to Yongin in Gyeonggi Province. It will be constructed as a 17.3 km, 4-lane highway in both directions. This project is also being carried out as a joint contract with Hyundai Construction, Daewoo Construction, Ssangyong Construction, and others. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction is responsible for about 16 billion KRW of the work.
A representative from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction stated, "Following last year's successful completion of the ultra-long HVDC subsea tunnel, which earned us the Civil Engineering Structure of the Year award, securing these two major highway projects is very encouraging. We are determined to achieve our existing goal of reaching 1.5 trillion KRW in order backlog within this year."

On the 10th, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction received the Special Technology Award for Civil Engineering Structures of the Year at the '2020 23rd Civil Engineering Day' ceremony, recognized for the special construction method (Shield TBM) applied to the Buk-Dangjin to Godeok HVDC subsea tunnel project.
