The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced on the 15th (Korean time) that "the US Women's Amateur Championship will be held from the 3rd of next month at Woodmont Golf Course in Rockville, Maryland, USA." Since its inception in 1895, it has been a cradle for women's golf stars. Ji-eun Park (41), Danielle Kang (USA), Lydia Ko (New Zealand), and Eun-jeong Sung (21) have all reached the top. However, due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that has swept the world, it has become difficult for top-level players to participate, lowering the tournament's prestige.

World No. 1 Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (France), No. 2 Vivian Hsu (Taiwan), No. 3 Alessia Nobilio (Italy), and No. 4 Ingrid Lindblad (Sweden) will not participate. This is the first time since the amateur world ranking system was introduced that all of the 'Top 4' are absent. Among players ranked within the top 25 in the world, 14 are absent. One player ranked within the top 10 explained the reason for giving up, saying, "I want to participate in the tournament, but the 14-day self-quarantine and other complications are too much."
