Foodin Wanju Mother Cookie in Wanju-gun Praised as "Model Case"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] Jin Young, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited Jeonbuk to personally inspect the operation status of village enterprises amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 15th, Minister Jin visited the village enterprise "Food in Wanju Mother Cookie" located in Wanju County, held an on-site meeting to listen to the difficulties in operating the village enterprise and suggestions for government support.
Minister Jin stated that the visit was arranged to listen to the difficulties faced by village enterprises struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, which caused cancellations of product sales and experience events, and to encourage outstanding village enterprises that have taken the lead in creating jobs for vulnerable groups.
"Food in Wanju Mother Cookie" is a village enterprise that produces safe food by baking bread and cookies using fresh ingredients produced locally. It was established in 2010 as a corporation formed by a community with the purpose of creating jobs for vulnerable groups.
"Mother Cookie" was designated as a new village enterprise by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2012 and was selected as the best village enterprise in 2013. It has continued steady growth with government support and contributes to job creation for marriage immigrant women and vulnerable groups.
Jeollabuk-do currently fosters 108 village enterprises and is promoting the village enterprise advancement project and village enterprise manager support project as distinctive projects of Jeonbuk Province to strengthen the competitiveness of village enterprises.

Minister Jin encouraged, saying, "Although each village enterprise is not large in scale, they play a significant role in revitalizing local communities and spreading social value," and added, "In particular, Mother Cookie is a good example showing the potential as a self-sustaining job project with sustainability."
