'Export Consortium Project' Also Untact... Recruiting Lead Organizations
Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business
Up to 6 Million KRW Support Per Company
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Kbiz) announced on the 15th that it is recruiting lead organizations for the '2020 Export Consortium Alternative Project' to support the export activities of domestic small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
This recruitment of lead organizations was prepared to assist domestic SMEs struggling to develop overseas markets due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The export consortium project, which previously supported rental fees and installation costs for SMEs participating in overseas exhibitions, has been converted to a 'non-face-to-face (untact) method' such as online video consultations and online exhibitions.
Kbiz plans to support the production of customized digital promotional content for companies through non-face-to-face online video consultation meetings and online exhibitions in this export consortium alternative project. It will fully cover up to KRW 6 million per company (KRW 500,000 to 2 million per item) for expenses such as discovering and matching overseas buyers for video export consultations and sample shipping costs.
Additionally, for SMEs wishing to participate directly in offline overseas exhibitions, an 'Offline Overseas Exhibition Direct Dispatch Project' will also be selected. It plans to support 50-70% of direct expenses by project stage.
Lead organizations eligible to participate in the export consortium alternative project include export-related institutions, non-profit business organizations related to SMEs (such as SME cooperatives, industry-specific organizations, associations), and private specialized companies (such as specialized trading companies and exhibition companies).
The application and submission period for the project is until the 7th of next month. Applications can be submitted online through the SME Overseas Exhibition Portal website, followed by mailing the related documents.

Jeon Hyesook, head of the Trade Promotion Department at Kbiz, said, "Although it has become difficult to develop overseas markets mainly through offline methods due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the export efforts of SMEs continue. We have prepared this non-face-to-face export support project to provide new export opportunities for SMEs even under COVID-19 circumstances by moving away from traditional overseas marketing support methods and adapting to the online, digital, and untact era."
