The Gyeongju City Sports Council announced on the 14th that Kim submitted a handwritten apology letter.
In the apology, Kim expressed, "The reason I had to deny the facts of violence and verbal abuse by Coach Kim Gyubong and player Jangmo during the investigation process was because I was secretly afraid and lacked the courage to expose the wrongdoings of teachers and seniors I had lived with since childhood."
He continued, "I deeply reflect on the public outrage caused by my reckless remarks at the National Assembly," adding, "I was flustered by the unfamiliar situation and the intense attention, which led me to utter unintended and completely inappropriate remarks. I sincerely apologize to the late Choi and her bereaved family who were hurt by my thoughtless comments."
He admitted to the charges of continuously abusing the deceased. Kim stated, "I admit that during the 2017 training camp in New Zealand, I hit Choi on the back of the head because she was blocking the way," and added, "My physical contact was a careless and shameful act, as I did not realize it constituted assault to the other party."
He further added, "Once again, I reflect deeply and sincerely apologize."
