[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A man in his 30s who murdered his younger sister in front of their older sister was sentenced to 30 years in prison in the first trial.

The Criminal Division 1 of the Western Branch of Busan District Court (Chief Judge Yang Min-ho) announced on the 13th that Mr. A (39) was sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of murder and special intimidation.

The court stated, "The murder in this case was cruel, very bold, and ruthless in its means and methods," adding, "Ms. B ended her life at the young age of 21 in extreme fear and pain, and the bereaved family also suffered indescribable mental shock and pain, and it appears they will have to live with sorrow and pain for the rest of their lives."

It further explained the sentencing reason, "Especially, the older sister Ms. C lost her younger sister right before her eyes and suffered great mental pain that cannot be recovered by any means, making it difficult for her to lead a normal life, and she injured her knee while trying to escape."

In July 2018, Mr. A met Ms. B (21) and continued their meetings. However, around November last year, Mr. A could no longer continue meeting Ms. B, and Ms. B also did not want to meet, leading to a break in contact.

Angered, Mr. A went to Ms. B's house on February 22 and stabbed her multiple times in the neck and chest with a weapon, killing her.

It was reported that Mr. A purchased the weapon in advance and planned the crime by identifying Ms. B's house and her work hours.

Also, he committed the crime in front of the older sister Ms. C, who was at the house at the time. Mr. A threatened Ms. C by saying, "After your sister dies, report it to the police."
