"Daejeon City Strengthens Management and Supervision of Self-Quarantine, 'Violation of Designated Area Will Result in Report'"
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is strengthening management and supervision to prevent COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals from leaving their designated spaces.
Starting from the 14th, the city plans to conduct unannounced inspections jointly with district offices and the police to check whether COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals have violated the established rules. If they are found to have left their designated spaces or violated other rules, they will be subject to legal action.
The Infectious Disease Prevention Act states that "if a self-quarantined individual is caught violating rules such as unauthorized departure, they may face imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW."
As of today, 1,198 people in Daejeon are under self-quarantine, including 745 overseas arrivals and 453 contacts of confirmed local cases.
The city is operating 1,003 dedicated public officials to monitor any abnormal signs among these self-quarantined individuals.
Additionally, self-quarantined individuals are required to input their fever status and other information twice daily via a smartphone app for management. The autonomous districts track and manage the locations of self-quarantined individuals through a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based integrated situation management system, continuously monitoring for unauthorized departures.
In particular, the city explained that it will operate a mobile inspection team that immediately responds to reports of self-quarantine violations submitted through the Safe Report system, verifying violations on-site to thoroughly prevent unauthorized departures.

Park Wol-hoon, Director of the Citizen Safety Office of the city, said, "Recently, cases of unauthorized departures by overseas self-quarantined individuals have caused public concern. The city will focus on securing citizen safety by continuously monitoring self-quarantined individuals and strengthening on-site inspections to ensure the safety network for citizens."
