[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] Zinzi Mandela, the youngest daughter of former South African President Nelson Mandela, passed away on the 13th (local time) at the age of 59.
According to local media on the day, Zinzi, the current ambassador to Denmark, died at a hospital in Johannesburg in the morning. The exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Ambassador Zinzi was the youngest daughter born to former President Mandela and his ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, and had served as the ambassador to Denmark since 2015. She gained international attention in 1985 when she publicly read a statement rejecting the conditional release offer from President P.W. Botha on behalf of her imprisoned father, former President Mandela.

The deceased is survived by her husband and four children. Zinzi's older sister, Zenani Nothiswa Dlamini, currently serves as the South African ambassador to South Korea.
