The Pukyong National University President Appointment Recommendation Committee announced on the 13th that the election for the President Appointment Candidate, which was canceled on the 17th of last month, will be re-held on the 15th through an agreement among campus organizations regarding the voting ratio by member group and voting method.
Campus organizations at Pukyong National University conducted negotiations three times regarding the voting ratio by member group and finalized the voting ratio on the 10th.
The finalized voting ratio by member group is the same as that of the 6th President Appointment Candidate election held four years ago. For the first round of voting compared to professors, staff have 18%, teaching assistants 0.34%, students 2%; for the second round, staff 16%, teaching assistants 0.34%, students 2%; and for the final round, staff 14%, students 2%.
The voting ratio for the teaching assistant group was decided to be applied as a single ratio (0.34%) through negotiations among campus organizations, independently from the ratio used in the President Appointment Candidate election four years ago.
Prior to this, on the 6th, Pukyong National University held a council meeting and an academic affairs meeting to deliberate and approve the ‘Partial Amendment to the Regulations on the Selection and Recommendation of Pukyong National University President Appointment Candidates.’ As the previous regulation allowed only on-site voting, the amendment now permits online voting, leading the President Appointment Recommendation Committee to decide to conduct the vote online on the 15th.
This decision for re-voting follows a dramatic agreement among campus organizations?including the Pukyong National University Professors’ Association, the National Public Officials Labor Union Pukyong Branch, the National and Public University Labor Union Pukyong Branch, the Pukyong National University Teaching Assistants Council, and the Pukyong National University Student Council?during an emergency meeting convened by the Chairman of the President Recommendation Committee on the 26th of last month. They agreed on postponing the 7th President election, changing the voting method, and renegotiating the voting ratio.
