[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye said on the 13th at a meeting to review the child and youth protection safety measures, "Please share the voices from the field so that the measures can work meticulously and effectively on the ground."
On the morning of the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Yoo visited a child welfare center located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and held a meeting with officials from related ministries and workers from child and youth protection agencies. Since the Social Relations Ministers' Meeting in June, the Ministry of Education and related ministries have formed a special task force (TF) to prevent the recurrence of child abuse. They are currently preparing budget securing plans and legal revisions related to this issue.
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo stated, "A separate information linkage task force is currently operating to resolve the problem of information disconnection between agencies and to promote closer cooperation," and added, "A full survey is being conducted to check the safety of children aged 3 years being raised at home, and the National Police Agency, together with local governments, has completed safety checks for more than 2,500 high-risk children."

She continued, "Amid concerns about infectious diseases, with social distancing and non-face-to-face activities, children are spending more time at home, increasing the possibility of child abuse while making early detection more difficult," and emphasized, "The government will make every effort to resolve the problem more swiftly and with a serious sense of responsibility."
