Chungnam, Renewable Energy Distribution Project... Participating in the Government's Green New Deal
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is aligning with the government's Green New Deal policy by promoting renewable energy distribution projects.
The province announced on the 13th that it will invest a total budget of 26.4 billion KRW, including 12.9 billion KRW in national funds next year, to promote renewable energy distribution projects.
Previously, the government has been promoting the Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project as part of the Green New Deal policy. This project aims to supply electricity and heat by installing complementary renewable energy source facilities such as solar power, geothermal, and wind power in houses and public buildings distributed in specific areas.
In this regard, the province plans to install renewable energy facilities next year with capacities of ▲7,879 kW of solar power (1,699 locations, 14 billion KRW) ▲3,212㎡ of solar thermal (132 locations, 2.8 billion KRW) ▲4,481 kW of geothermal (223 locations, 4.4 billion KRW).
To this end, the province has selected seven cities and counties as the first priority project sites: Gongju-si, Boryeong-si, Asan-si, Dangjin-si, Geumsan-gun, Hongseong-gun, and Yesan-gun. After on-site evaluations by the Korea Energy Agency starting at the end of this month, the final project target areas will be selected in September.
