Female Journalists Association "Mourning Late Mayor Park Won-soon, Victims Must Be Protected"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The Korean Women Journalists Association expressed condolences on the 12th for the late Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul, and urged protection for the former Seoul city employee who claimed to be a victim.
The Women Journalists Association stated, "The deceased left many achievements as a human rights lawyer, civic activist, and administrator," and evaluated, "He contributed to the improvement of women's rights, including taking on and winning Korea's first workplace sexual harassment case pro bono in the 1990s."
At the same time, they said, "The fact that the deceased was accused by the police of sexually harassing a secretary who was a Seoul city employee raises serious questions," and added, "Properly clarifying the allegations is the first step in finding answers to these questions."

The association said, "Citizens who claim to have suffered sexual violence by force from a public figure are subjects the state must protect," and voiced, "This case must not undermine the momentum of the MeToo movement or discourage the courage of victims."
