An anonymous citizen, wishing to offer even a small help to the hardworking public health center staff on the front lines, prepaid 400,000 won at a bakery, asking them to deliver bread and snacks.
Moved by this gesture, the bakery also decided to join in by adding 600,000 won, making a total of 1,000,000 won worth of snacks to be delivered, naturally creating a ‘relay of good deeds.’
This news was shared by the bakery involved.
The anonymous donor visited ‘Dosdoze’ bakery in Ssangchon-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around 1 p.m. on the 8th.
Dosdoze bakery is a small bakery that opened last November in an alley of Ssangchon-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Until March, before the COVID-19 outbreak, the bakery held an event called ‘Let’s Keep Trying Hard Anyway,’ where they received stories via SNS and delivered bread and drinks directly to the homes or workplaces of the protagonists in those stories, bringing small happiness to citizens.
The anonymous donor, who had been paying attention to this event, earnestly requested not to reveal their identity and said, “I will prepay 400,000 won, so please deliver bread and drinks to Seo-gu Public Health Center, which has been struggling with the surge in tests since the 27th of last month.”
It is said that the donor repeatedly asked not to disclose their identity even as they left the store.
After Mr. A left the store, Choi Wooje, the representative of Dosdoze bakery, was briefly in thought. He was moved by the good deed and felt he should also contribute.
Ultimately, Representative Choi added 600,000 won, deciding to deliver a total of 1,000,000 won worth of snacks to Seo-gu Public Health Center.
Representative Choi said, “Even small business owners like us are sharing our hearts to overcome COVID-19 together, so I made this decision hoping everyone will unite and overcome these difficulties. Especially, I hope the hardworking medical staff will gain more strength.”
