Yoo In-tae on Mayor Park Won-soon's Passing: "Remembered the Late Jeong Du-eon, Felt Ominous... Still Stunned"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Former Secretary General of the National Assembly Yuin-tae revealed on the 10th that he had a foreboding feeling when he heard the news that the whereabouts of the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon were unknown.
On that day, Yuin-tae appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said that on the previous day (the 9th), he told officials, "I thought of former lawmaker Jeong Du-eon, so it feels ominous, uneasy, and worrisome."
Yuin-tae had worked with Mayor Park in democratization and social reform movements.
He said, "Former lawmaker Jeong Du-eon had depression, but in Mayor Park's case, it's absolutely..." and added, "I can't believe he made such a choice. I'm still in shock."
He continued, "I met him on the 5th at Governor Ahn Hee-jung's condolence hall and talked with him," adding, "Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun was also there that day."
Yuin-tae said he did not expect such an incident because Mayor Park showed enthusiasm for his work.
He mentioned their last conversation, saying, "(After Mayor Park took on temporary radio hosting duties) he said, 'Hosting is easier than appearing as a guest,' and he talked about how the convenience stores at the Hangang Project Office were doing quite well. Two stores were given to the Liberation Association two years ago, and this year, the contracts expired, and he was planning to give two more stores to the Liberation Association."
Meanwhile, Mayor Park was found dead near Sukjeongmun in Bukhansan in the early morning of the 10th.
